JOPLIN, Mo. A man is rushed to the hospital following an Tuesday afternoon shooting in Joplin. Police received a call of gunshots at 1201 East Hill Street before 4:00pm Tuesday afternoon. That’s where they found a man with gunshot injuries. Police say he was considered to be in critical condition. Police have not made any arrests. Follow for the latest updates here.
JOPLIN, Mo. – Joplin police say a body was found in Cunningham Park, but the death does not seem suspicious. Police say a passerby noticed the body around 7:20am Tuesday morning near a trolley stop in the park and called 911. When officers arrived they found the body of a middle aged man. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the body, but say the initial investigation does not find the death to be suspicious.
BURLINGTON, Kan. – A Burlington, Kansas man has died from a motorcycle crash. Authorities say Harvey Eccles was driving his motorcycle in Montgomery County when he left the road and hit a ditch. He later died at the hospital. Eccles was commander of the American Legion Post 38 in Burlington. A passenger on the motorcycle was not injured. More details on the crash here.
JOPLIN, Mo. – The Joplin community takes time to remember a fallen hero. On Tuesday police and others gathered for a moment of silence and prayer, in honor of Corporal Ben Cooper, on what what have been Cooper’s 47th birthday. Corporal Cooper was one of three members of the Joplin Police Department who were shot on March 8th. He and Officer Jake Reed did not survive. Joplin Mayor Doug Lawson proclaimed July 26th Corporal Ben Cooper Day and ordered flags flown at half-staff. March 9th is now dedicated to Officer Reed, in honor of his birthday.
