A 77-year-old woman has finally been given a bed at Blacktown Hospital after waiting more than 50 hours with nothing but a chair.

Toni arrived at the hospital around 2am Sunday after a fall the night before with a bleed on her brain and a dislocated elbow.

Her daughter, Traci, told Ray Hadley she wasn’t receiving the care she needed because the hospital was overfull.

“They haven’t put the CPAP on her because she hasn’t been able to lie down since she fell,” she wrote.

“She hasn’t had a shower, which is distressing her even more.

“Mum lives alone and I can’t take her home until she can be assessed for emergency aged care.”

Ray was happy to report this morning after his team approached Blacktown Hospital, Toni was given a bed and is being cared for by “a lovely nurse named Cheryl”.
